Gird Up The Loins of Your Mind

1 Peter 1:13a
"Therefore gird up the loins of your mind..."

What we did on Sunday was look at this short portion of scripture and then we broke into groups and had great lively discussions. For those of you who were present it would be good to get your thoughts online.

Here are the definitions we used:

gird up - to prepare oneself for something requiring strength or endurance; in the natural it would be to brace ourselves for what's to come, to dig in, to take a strong stance not to get knocked down. Regarding our minds it would be to get ones mind ready for creative use for the purposes of God.

loins - Greek - osphus = procreative power - regarded as the seat of physical strength and generative power; the mind would have to do with creative thought.

mind - Greek - dianoia = deep thought; it exercise = imiagination, mind, understanding - the element of humans that reasons, thinks, feels, wills, perceives and judges.

I think Peter might have addressed our generation this way:

Let's do everything we can to get our minds fixed on thinking godly thoughts so we can see the manifestation of the collective creative power God has blessed us with.

Here are some additional scriptural references you might want to use to make your comments.
1 Peter 4:12, 2 Peter 1:3-5, James 1:5-7 & Phil 4:8

Take some time to make your comments public

Stay blessed,

Pastor Cedric

Good subject. It's making me think a lot more about how I have been "girding up the loins of my mind."

I'm looking forward to your next post.
